Someday I’ll strike gold out west and get to build a huge house with a ranch and horses, but until that day I like to daydream and look at all the possibilities. After three days of rain and grey and cold in DC, I am about ready to cozy up next to a fireplace and snuggle in. These 8 houses have put the fireplace right in the kitchen, an idea that I love–especially since the kitchen is so often the main gathering place. I can just picture decorating cookies while a fire is crackling (I’m pretty great at this daydreaming stuff, right?). In the summer, when I suppose you don’t want the kitchen to be 100 degrees, you could decorate the fireplace with fresh flowers or candles as well.
